A traditional funeral follows an order most families recognize: a time of visitation, a funeral ceremony, and a procession to the cemetery for committal. Its familiarity is part of what makes it work — it gives everyone present a place to stand and something to do.

We coordinate the details so your family does not have to keep track of them:

• Clergy, celebrant, or officiant of your choosing
• A ceremony in our chapel, in your home church, or at the graveside
• Music, readings, eulogies, and the order of service
• Register books, memorial folders, and prayer cards
• Floral arrangements, plus newspaper and online notices
• Transportation for your loved one and for the immediate family

Many families set aside time before the service for visitation, so friends, neighbors, church members, and coworkers can come by, sign the register, and speak with the family without the formality of a ceremony. Visitation is commonly held the evening before the funeral, or in the hour just before it.

Whether a viewing is part of that time — open casket, closed casket, or a portrait and memorial table instead — is the family's decision. We will walk you through what each option involves so you can decide together. There is no wrong answer.

Not every family wants a ceremony in a chapel. A celebration of life can be held days or weeks later, in a place that meant something, and can take the shape of a meal, a slideshow, an open microphone, or a gathering built around a hobby, a uniform, a recipe, or a team.
